Roberta Baril has taught in various junior and senior high band programs for Edmonton Public School over the last 35 years and most recently was the music director and Department Head of Fine Arts and International Languages at W.P. Wagner High School in Edmonton. Roberta has since taken on a position at the University of Alberta, where she is working in the Faculty of Education and teaching courses in Advanced Field Experience to music students. Roberta holds a Bachelor of Education degree in Music from the University of Alberta where she was the recipient of several awards including the Margaret Ann Brine Scholarship in Music Education. She completed a Masters in Education degree in 2005 and based her thesis on the mentoring of beginning music teachers. Roberta was inducted as a member of the prestigious Phi beta Mu fraternity and received a Provincial Excellence in Teaching Award. In 2017 Roberta received a Legion of Honor Award, becoming in the process a Laureate of the John Philip Sousa Foundation.
