Tom Van Seters.
Well known as an accomplished performer/composer/educator on the Canadian jazz
scene for over thirty years, pianist Tom Van Seters is Associate Professor of Music at MacEwan University in Edmonton. He has performed in a wide variety of settings from solo to symphony orchestra and collaborated with numerous renowned musicians. His original compositions have been featured on radio including the CBC, jazzfm91, and CKUA as well as at many venues and festivals across Canada. His dissertation focusses on parallels between piano and drumming performance practices in jazz. Courses he has taught include applied piano, accompanying, arranging, improvisation, jazz history, theory, ear training, and ensembles.
