Band Interactive Conducting Lab | Ellie Neufeld Pires

The inaugural Interactive Conducting Lab is an opportunity for educators to improve their technique with the sounds of the Alberta Wind Symphony. Led by conductor Ellie Neufeld Pires, this session will begin with movement-based conducting tips for all attendees followed by individual coaching on the podium for conducting fellows. The lab will operate similarly to a conducting workshop, however it is open to all conference attendees to observe and participate. The lab is geared toward middle and high school instrumental music educators, community conductors, and any directors looking to improve their conducting technique on the podium.

This session will be a conducting masterclass. Several participants will get opportunities to conduct and get specific feedback and suggestions. All attendees will be introduced to a couple of conducting concepts throughout the session and we will discuss what to do and what not to do as a conductor at the end of the session.
