Marni Strome has worked as a public music educator and choir conductor in Calgary for over 30 years. As Artistic Director for the Calgary Children’s Choir, Marni oversees the five-choir program, from ages three to adult, and conducts three of the choirs. Marni has also directed the St. Giles Presbyterian Church choir for over twenty years. Under Marni’s leadership, the Calgary Children’s and Calgary Youth Choirs have toured to various parts of Europe, North America, Japan, and Canada, most recently Germany and Prague in July 2019. Her choirs have performed in local, provincial, and international festivals, and have worked with internationally recognized conductors such as Henry Leck, Dr. David Flood, and Dr. Will Kesling.
Beyond the Calgary Children’s Choir program, Marni is active as teacher, clinician, guest conductor, adjudicator, and conference presenter. She has also worked as a summer sessional instructor at University of Calgary, Silverwinds Hutterite colony in Manitoba, and University of Alberta Kodaly summer programs, teaching Musicianship, Conducting, and Choir. Marni recently completed her Masters degree at Holy Names University in Oakland, CA, with an emphasis in Kodaly inspired music education. |
